Memory Foam Mattress
When it comes to sleeping good many people recommend a memory foam mattress. If someone is going to buy a memory foam mattress, it is important to know what to look for and make sure to have all the information before buying the mattress. When people know what to look for along with how to look for the right mattress they will be happier with what they have.
The memory foam mattress was started in the 1970’s when NASA’s Ames Research Center went and funded development project that would help to create a way that would help relieve the g-force stress that the astronauts experience during lift-off. The idea is that the foam would mold each of the astronaut’s body and would move according how the astronaut would move. This helps with making even distribution of person’s weight and pressure over the entire surface of the mattress. Then in 1993 it was launched in North America for people to buy.
It wasn’t long after this happened that many different companies started to make the memory foam mattress so that customers are able to choose from a variety of price levels and varieties. These options include things like mattress, specialty products and even upholstering.
The foam gets is memory from something called Visco-elastic, which has become synonymous with the memory foam. There are different grades of foam that is used. There are certain chemicals that are non toxic that add things like weight and/or density to the foam. There are four things that are used to consider what the grade is for each memory foam mattress.
The first one is the weight or density based in pounds per square foot. The more chemicals that are used the higher the density which means that there is more visco-elastic.
The second is ILD Rating which stands for Indentation load deflection. This tells you the hardness and/or softness of the material that is used. It is thought that the lower the ILD then it is better at getting a person’s pressure point reduction. A memory foam mattress, if too soft or hard and without the proper support in the mattress, can be a problem and not really do the important job.

The third one is resilience. This means how the foam springs back and how it springs back. A person doesn’t want it too quick or too slow. A person sleeping on the memory foam mattress does not want the rebound of a mattress to happen while it is being slept on to be quick, or it defeats the purpose of mattress.
The final one is tensile, which means the extent the foam can be stretched. This is measured in pounds per square inch and the amount of elongation of stretch before it will rupture. Sleeping on the mattress is what compresses it and can make all the difference.
Knowing the history of the memory foam mattress is important and can make all the difference. This can help make a purchase a good or bad one. Doing research about the different types of memory foam mattresses will help a customer be well informed.
